President Theodore Roosevelt addresses a group in Santa Barbara on May 9, 1903. A few hours later, he spoke to the citizens of San Luis Obispo, praising them for their support of the new state school. This image was reproduced in the book "California Addresses", published by the California Promotion Committee, San Francisco, in 1903. Call number: F862 .R78

This is a detail from a photo that was published in the January 1906 Polytechnic Journal, which is described as "Faculty and Students of Polytechnic, 1905." The caption on this print reads: 'Dir. Leroy Anderson - Cal Poly's first chief administrator.'
