Note reads: 'Arroyo Grande June 29th: Ah Louis, Please for 15 [?] Mr. Fowler ($12) Twelve Dol to charge 15 [?] of [?] comply. J. S. Lewis' Reverse side of note reads: 'Received payment, A. Fowler.'

Note reads: 'Arroyo Grande June 29th, [1889?]: Ah Louis, I paid you the 25th of this month for 186 3/4 cords of wood. There was [?] 176 3/4. I discovered the [?] total when I found myself short in my [?]. Please [?] this order for $12 and let the rest stand until next time. Yours Res, J. S. Lewis.' On the verso: 'Ah Louis, San Luis Obispo'

The text of the license reads: 'Ah Louis, having paid into the City Treasury two & 50/100 dollars, License is hereby granted to transact business of Mdse - General at No. 800 Palm street, in the City of San Luis Obispo, Cal., for the period of THREE MONTHS, ending June 30, 1925, in conformity with the provisions of the Ordinances of said City.' Signed by the City Clerk, and dated April 1, 1925.

A check of forty-two dollars paid to the order of R. Righetti (misspelled as Rightti on the check), for hay. Back of check has Chinese characters and the name 'Robertino (?) Righetti.'

Note reads: 'SLO; August 29-39; Ah Lui, Please give my wife $300 dolars [dollars] and oblige, G Schow'

Adolph Lowinger of Santa Margarita owned a general merchandise store.

Check of five hundred and ten dollars paid to the San Francisco Exchange. Stamp indicates the check was paid on November 19, 1888.

Check of two hundred and twenty dollars paid to Tom Lang. There seems to be another one or two characters that follow Tom Lang's name, but they are indecipherable.

A check of four hundred dollars from Ah Luis, made out to the San Franciscan Exchange. There is not date at the top of the check, however here is a "Paid" stamp indicating a date of March 2, 1888.

Receipt of a special tax paid by Ah Louis' business as a 'retail liquor dealer'. The text of the document reads: 'The sum of Four Dollars Sixteen and Two-thirds Cents having this day been paid to me by Ah Louis for special tax on the business of Retail Liquor Dealer, to be carried on at San Luis Obispo, state of Cal., for the months of May and June, 1891, Special-Tax Stamp No. V175350, issued to ______, covering the business ad place of business above mentioned to April 30, 1891, is hereby extended to June 30, 1891.'

The text of license reads: 'Ah Luis, having paid into the City Treasury one dollar, License is hereby granted to transact business of [indecipherable] in the City of San Luis Obispo, Cal., for the period of THREE MONTHS, ending Sep. 30 A.D. 18__, in conformity with the provisions of the Ordinances of said City.' Text of the license reads: 'Ah Louis, having paid into the County Treasury FOUR DOLLARS, License is hereby granted him to transact the business of TRADING in S.L.O., said county, for Three Months, from July 1 A. D. 1891, to Sept. 30 A. D. 1892, in conformity with the provisions of a Ordinance of the Board of Supervisors of San Luis Obispo County, California, dated February 3, A. D. 1892.'
