Description

My dear Mr. Jack:- I have received the same letter from the Dr. + have just answered him today that he does not know what he is talking about, + that it ought to be an easy matter for his principals or trust company to send the right word to some bank here + see how much ginger would be put into it + not to filibuster + bluster. Was in no mood to answer. Am afraid that he is only being monkeyed with back there + will not be the first fiddler in a financial sense. He has chased all over the country himself letting it out. I believe in staying with the Dr. to the last - but you are correct to double up. The Independent man wants to meet the Dr. + in the past month I have written to the Dr. twice when + where he could meet the party but so far he has not answered - I fear he wants the whole cheese which has been the principal cause of failure for this thing in the past. In my letter today I ask the Dr. why he has not answered me in reference to meeting a party interested in the same project. I hope to write you at an early date as to the strength of the other party.

Dear Sir: In a code wire, last night, MR. French says that E. H. Harriman is willing to furnish, at least, one million dollars, net, of underwriting of the preferred stock of this company. The matter has been referred to J. Kruttschnitt at Chicago. They, of course, know nothing of the Pacific South Western Ry. or the Pacific Midland Ry. projects. This communication is to be regarded as confidential in the strictest sense.
