Dear Sir: In a code wire, last night, MR. French says that E. H. Harriman is willing to furnish, at least, one million dollars, net, of underwriting of the preferred stock of this company. The matter has been referred to J. Kruttschnitt at Chicago. They, of course, know nothing of the Pacific South Western Ry. or the Pacific Midland Ry. projects. This communication is to be regarded as confidential in the strictest sense.
