Description
Truck carrying 228-ton stator moves at a rate of two miles per day along CA Highway 1 from railhead at Camp San Luis Obispo to Morro Bay. Planks were placed to the front of the load as soon as it passes over them to prevent the weight of the stator from crushing the concrete pavement. The stator was built in New York and shipped to California by rail. It took a 9.3 mile trip to reach its destination at the new power plant owned by Pacific Gas and Electric Co.
