Mr. William Randolph Hearst 137 Riverside Drive New York, N.Y. Gentlemen: Because we had a good start on the towers of C, it rained three days and three nights steadily. There was very little damage done as the tents were up over the openings. One tower is well along and the other one started. The ceiling of the library of House A is up except the alcove. The modeling on it is fine. I enclose a picture of replica casting, - one of the largest and finest I have ever seen. All the concrete work below C is stripped. Only two little walls on the lower level are yet to be done. You can get the effect from the opposite hill and it is all hoped for. The form work is built below B but the concrete is not poured. The men are working on the forms for the first large Turn. Chimneys of C are nearly up. The ceilings of both bedrooms of A are completed and the painters are working on the window decorations and on the ceilings of C. As to garden: There are hundreds of little plants set out. The plants, palms, oranges, etc. are picking up again. The tile panel is certainly beautiful and perfect in color with both frieze and door tile. I am having a gold colored border tile made, but it will be some time before it is ready. Hadley is at his wits ends how to get the Della Robbia out without breaking it, as it was put in to stay. I would have given two cents last Sunday to have had you see the turquoise blue Chinese jars on the little pedestals where the path of C begins. Yours very Sincerely, ?
