Skip to Content Cal Poly News Search Cal Poly News Go California Polytechnic State University March 5, 2003 Contact: Teresa Hendrix (805) 756-7266 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Cal Poly Announces New Public Affairs Director SAN LUIS OBISPO - Cal Poly has named a new director of public affairs: Leah Kolt, formerly with the Colorado School of Mines, a public university with an emphasis on engineering. Kolt began work March 3 at Cal Poly and will supervise the university's internal and external communications and community relations efforts, as well as its university publications and news Web site, www.calpolynews.calpoly.edu. "We are very fortunate to have Leah with us," said Vice President for Advancement Bill Boldt. "She was chosen from a field of more than 50 applicants, all exceedingly qualified. We think she will be a strong addition to the Advancement team. Her knowledge of Web and electronic communications, coupled with her media experience, will serve the university well." While at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo., Kolt helped develop the college's award-winning Web site and a graphic identity for publications, including an award-winning four-color magazine. She also served as president of the Higher Education Association of the Rockies, the largest professional society for both public and private schools in the state. Prior to joining the CSM public affairs office in 1997, she served as a manager of communications for Westinghouse Savannah River Company. Kolt, who has a daughter in college in Colorado, said she was looking forward to getting to work at Cal Poly. "Cal Poly has a national reputation as an excellent university, and I look forward to being a part of the organization.
