Scheduled events include: TUESDAY, Jan. 21 A-WEAR-NESS Day. Participants get a free t-shirt and some facts about justice, diversity, and culture as they relate to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, our nation, and our world. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the University Union Plaza Social Justice Forum: A discussion of U.S. military involvement in the Philippines under the guise of the war on terrorism in room 124 of the Performing Arts Center from 7-9 p.m. WEDNESDAY, Jan. 22: Cal Poly Photography Professor Sky Bergman will present a showing of photos of Cambodia on campus in Building 52, room B05. from 6 to7:30 p.m. An open discussion follows on such topics as justice, poverty, homelessness, globalization, and international political economy. Free. Multi-Cultural Center Fundraiser, Tortilla Flats, San Luis Obispo, from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. There will be music, dancing, and other activities. No charge to attend, however a donation is appreciated. THURSDAY Jan. 23: "Sights and Sounds of Culture." Multicultural Performances on Dexter Lawn during UU Hour, 11 a.m. - noon. Free. Keynote Address: UC San Diego Ethnic Studies Professor George Lipsitz will present the WITT Keynote Address from 6-9 p.m. in Building 3, Room 213. Lipsitz is a globally recognized speaker on issues of Americana, history, culture, and diversity. He is the author of Rainbow at Midnight: Life and Labor in the 1940's, Time Passages: Collective Memory and American Popular Culture, Dangerous Crossroads: The Sidewalks of St. Louis, and A Life in the Struggle: Ivory Perry and the Culture of Opposition (which won both the Eugene M. Kayden Press Book Award and the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award in Race Relations). FRIDAY, Jan. 24: Video showing, 6-9 p.m., Yosemite Hall. Documentary maker and Cal Poly student Jerry Burge, who holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology, created this video on diversity issues at Cal Poly for his senior project. SATURDAY, Jan. 25: Martin Luther King Service Day, at which students will paint at the Prado Day Center for the homeless.
