Description supplied by photographer: "Aquí estamos en la estación de autobuses en Bakersfield, en camino a San Juan Nuevo. Mi hermano estaba cansado y aburrido. Nosotros tomamos el autobús a Tijuana y luego un vuelo a la Cuidad de Uruapan, que se encuentra a 15 minutos de San Juan Nuevo." - "We are at the bus station in Bakersfield on our way to San Juan Nuevo. My brother was tired and bored. We took the bus to Tijuana and then flew to the City of Urupan, which is about 15 minutes from San Juan Nuevo."

Tomé esta foto porque me hizo recordar de mi niñez cuando pasaba el tiempo jugando en la calle con mi amiga Rosa Antolino." Translation of description: "A couple of young girls playing in my neighborhood in Paso Robles. Many people from San Juan Nuevo live in the same neighborhood. I took this photo because it reminded me of my childhood when I would always be outside playing with my old friend Rosa Antolino."

Description supplied by photographer: "Este es mi hermano Rocco en sala de nuestra casa en Oak Park. Yo vivo con mi papá dos hermanos. Mi papá es quien cocina la mayor parte del tiempo y yo le ayudo a cocinar sopa de fideos. Mis dos hermanos y yo ayudamos con los quehaceres de la casa." - "This is my brother Rocco in the living room of our home in Oak Park. I live with my dad and two brothers. My dad does most of the cooking and sometimes I help him by making cup-o-noodles. My two brothers and I each help with the chores around the house."

Nosotros estabamos comiendo y el chico de la fota estaba en la otra mesa y yo le pregunte si le podia tomar una foto con su máscara puesta. La máscara que lleva puesta fue hecha a mano por un artesano en San Juan Nuevo." - "The Curpite dancers are eating in a home in the barrio of San Mateo. We were eating together and the guy in the photo was at the other table across from me and I asked if I could take a photo of him with his mask on. The mask he is wearing was handmade by an artisan in San Juan Nuevo."

Description supplied by photographer: "Durante nuestra visita a San Juan Nuevo viajamos al Volcán de Paricutin. Mi hermano Junior y mi prima Martha Aguilar están parados en la boca del volcán. Se puede ver por las manchas negras como la lava destruyó a nuestro pueblo en 1943." - "We traveled to the Paricutin volcano during our visit to San Juan Nuevo. My brother Junior and my cousin Martha Aguilar are standing on the rim of the [dormant] volcano. You can see by the dark patches how far the lava spread across our town when it was destroyed by the volcano."

Este sitio es la casa de mis primas Lorena y Connie, en el barrio de San Mateo." - "These are some of the Curpite dancers that are being provided with food. Every day of the dance competitions the community pitches in to make breakfast, lunch and dinner for all of the participants.
