Description

Letter about concrete slabs used in the factory end of the Los Angeles Examiner Building. The letter reads: 'Miss Julia Morgan San Francisco. Dear Miss Morgan, Enclosed find the bad news the Building Dept. won't stand for the typical concrete slab (as shown in Drawing 561-4.) to be used in the factory end of the building. The structured steel they say is designed for a load of 250 lbs, and the slab must stand a like load. They claim that it will only stand 75 lbs. It is all right for the office end. There are some questions to be answered on the back of the application. You will also find the plan for the steel joists for the 3rd floor. I have shown 12 in place of 10 joist let me know which to use by wire if the plan is OK and I will order the material by wire. They had no [kick] on the 3rd floor. Yours Respect George Hesse'
