This collection, 1972-1999 (bulk 1983-1995), contains the papers of architectural historian Sara Holmes Boutelle, including extensive correspondence, research notes, photographs, interview notes, book drafts, articles, book reviews, presentation notes, and newspaper clippings, primarily relating to California architect Julia Morgan, women in American architecture, and historic preservation in the Bay Area, donated by her heirs in 2000. Text reads: 'Dear Sara, Giovanna Jackson has given your name to me because I am interested in getting together as much history about the home, at 1384 Broadway in Chico. Julia Morgan is supposed to have remodeled it in the 20's-we're not sure of the date. I would greatly appreciate any information you could send me the house and enclosing a stamped envelope. Thank you, Liz Stewart'. In Boutelle's writing, it reads: '[?] Jan 11 '83, gave gist of 11/19/77 Chico paper, + asked her to let me know more. suggested checking directories, bank records.'
