CAL PoLY
REPORT
California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo

Holiday Gift Drive
still needs sponsors
Cal Poly's Holiday Gift Drive
still needs groups that can sponsor
San Luis Obispo homeless children
or children from families with very
low income to help make their
holiday season brighter.
Potential sponsors are given in
formation about several children
plus the kids' personalized "wish
lists" to help groups determine
which children to "adopt."
Any group interested in partici
pating should stop by the Com
munity Service Center, UU 217, or
call Sam Lutrin at ext. 5839, as
soon as possible.

Student Affairs sets
holiday wassail
Student Affairs invites the cam
pus community to join in the tra
ditional holiday wassail at its open
house from 2 to 4 pm today
(Dec. 9), in Adm. 209.

Parking no longer
free during breaks
Remember that weekday park
ing on campus is now by paid
permit or meter year-round, in
cluding academic breaks. The only
exceptions are "campus closed"
holidays, which will be Dec. 23,
24, 30 and 31 during the coming
quarter break.
The requirement will be in effect
Monday through Friday, 7 am to
5 pm, through the break. Annual
parking permits are valid, as well
as quarterly permits for either the
previous or upcoming quarter
Fall '93 or Winter '94.

All other parking rules will be
enforced 24 hours a day, seven
days a week.
For more information, call Park
ing and Commuter Services at
ext. 6654.

Special ed plan
on view at library
A plan to help ensure that Cali
fornians with disabilities and their
families get an education will be
on review at the Kennedy Library
until Jan. 7.
Parents, guardians and anyone
else interested can review the
California State Plan for Special
Education in the library's Learning
Resources Center. The plan will be
submitted to the U.S. Secretary of
Education as one step in the pro
cess to participate in the federal
Individuals with Disabilities Educa
tion Act (IDEA).
The plan describes how Califor
nia will provide a "free, appro
priate, public education" to dis
abled individuals to age 22, as well
as their families. Forms are
available for comments.
For more information, call
ext. 2273.

Campus steam plant
to close for holiday
The campus steam plant will be
shut down for maintenance from
4 pm, Wednesday, Dec. 22, until
4 pm, Sunday, Dec. 26. During
this time there will be no building
heat or hot water. For more infor
mation call Bob Pahlow or Ed
Naretto at ext. 2321.
